Blahtech Alerts Setup

Blahtech Alerts Setup

Blahtech indicators can raise alerts three ways:

Simple Setup (Email)

Email alerts are delivered through NinjaTrader’s email share service, so there are two steps:

  1. One-time NinjaTrader step: Control Center → Tools → Options → Share services → add the email service, pick your provider (e.g. Outlook, Gmail) and sign in on the provider page that opens. Use the service’s own Test button to confirm an email arrives.
  2. Settings cog → Global Tab → Alerts Email To (just below the check boxes) = the address alerts should go to. Leave it blank to send to the signed-in account’s own address.

The provider sign-in is cached, so this is a one-off - if a sign-in window ever reappears, just sign in again. Text messages are the exception: they require the Advanced manual-SMTP setup below.

Testing Alerts

Press Settings cog → Alerts → Send Test: a log alert, sound and email should all arrive (check your spam folder the first time and mark it Not Spam).

Enable Indicator Alerts

Each indicator switches its own alerts: Indicator dialog → Alerts tab → Sound / Email / Notifications check boxes.

Advanced Setup (Email + Text)

Text messages, and sending from your own email account, go through NinjaTrader’s Share Services.

1. Your own email account

Configure the email share service with manual SMTP settings and a Gmail App Password - text messages require the manual mode (the Gmail/Outlook sign-in modes support plain email only).

Google side:

  1. Go to myaccount.google.comSecurity → turn on 2-Step Verification (App Passwords require it).
  2. Go to myaccount.google.com/apppasswords, enter an app name such as NinjaTrader and press Create.
  3. Copy the 16-character password shown - it is only displayed once (ignore the spaces).

NinjaTrader side:

  1. Control Center → Tools → Options → Share services → add (or select) the email service.
  2. Set the preconfigured dropdown to Manual and fill in:
    • Server: smtp.gmail.com
    • Port: 587
    • Use SSL: ticked
    • User name: your full Gmail address
    • Password: the 16-character App Password (no spaces)
    • From mail address: the same Gmail address
    • Sender display name: e.g. Blahtech Alerts
  3. Use the service’s own Test button to confirm an email arrives, then press OK.

With your own account configured, alert emails go to the cog’s Alerts Email To address when set, else to the account’s own address (the From address above).

2. Text messages - US

NinjaTrader’s “Text message via email” service emails your carrier’s text gateway. It requires the email account from section 1.

  1. Tools → Options → Share services → add Text message via email.
  2. Email: select the email service configured above.
  3. Phone number: your 10-digit number, e.g. 8005551234.
  4. Pick your carrier from the preconfigured dropdown (Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint) - it fills the gateway addresses for you. For other carriers choose Manual and enter the carrier’s gateway in SMS address (e.g. AT&T: @txt.att.net).
  5. Press OK, then use Alerts → Send Test on the chart - a text should arrive.

Gateway availability is carrier-dependent; if the log reports the text as sent but nothing arrives, confirm the gateway address with your carrier.

3. Text messages - UK (ClickSend)

UK networks no longer run public email-to-SMS gateways, so a commercial provider bridges the last hop. These steps use ClickSend (charged per message) and require the email account from section 1:

  1. Create an account at clicksend.com and add a small amount of credit.
  2. In the ClickSend dashboard: SMS → Settings → Email to SMS → enable it and add your sending email address (the Gmail “From” address configured above) to the allowed addresses - ClickSend only relays messages from registered senders.
  3. In NinjaTrader: Tools → Options → Share services → add Text message via email.
  4. Email: select the email service configured above.
  5. Set the preconfigured dropdown to Manual and fill in:
    • Phone number: international format without the +, e.g. 447769973079
    • SMS address: @sms.clicksend.com
  6. Press OK, then use Alerts → Send Test on the chart - a text should arrive.

Per-Indicator Alert Switches

Each indicator decides what it alerts on. Open the indicator’s dialog → Alerts tab:

Note: alerts fire on live market data only - nothing triggers while a chart is loading historical bars.

Troubleshooting

The running version is shown at the top of the Settings panel (the cog), e.g. Settings v3.1.0 (a1b2c3d4) - please quote it when contacting support.
